I have medium brown/auburn hair, what would happen if I dyed it amber?

My hair is a natural medium brown/auburn, and I want to make it lighter without bleaching it.
It has some old (and stupid!) blond highlights in it, and it was dyed about 5 months ago but all the dye is gone.

I purchased Schwarzkopf essential color, and it says on the side of the box that it’s recommended for medium blonds to light browns. I noticed on the bottom of the box it says it contains hydrogen peroxide.

Will this make my hair any lighter, at all?
>_<

  2. If the new color is lighter then your natural color yes it will lighten it and it will color your blond highlights depending on how damaged the blond is will determine if the blond highlights hold all the color or not. Worse case it wont lighten your hair and you will still be able to see your highlights just a lighter color(resembling the box color) then what your un-frosted hair is.

No you do not have to use hairbleach to lighten your hair, always be careful when messing with any chemicals, read and follow the directions that came with the product.
