How do I change Auburn/Brown hair to a lighter natural color, Brownish/Blonde with no red undertones?

My hair is naturally Dark Brown. Over a period of time dying it is now a dark brown with a reddish color that I dislike very much. Can I change the color to it’s original dark brown and then lighten, without ruining?

  1. Ask a hair stylist

  2. Use that new perfect 10 hair dye in butterscotch boom.

  3. Make sure you don’t buy any dye that says “golden” like “light golden brown” or “dark golden blonde” Goldens add alot of red to the hair. Pick colors that say “natural” or “Neutral” instead.

  4. It took me 3 months to get auburn out of my hair and my hairdresser did it in three steps.
    1. choose a neutral light brown for two hair color’s every three weeks
    2. choose a neutral dark blonde color for the next
After 9 weeks you should be ready to do anything different. Just remember the longer ends of your hair will still have the red undertones and anything golden will turn brassy. I’ve kept mine in the neutral tones for the past 16 months and like the color. I tried adding golden highlights and in the second week it looked brassy, even using good shampoo’s.
