  1. The important thing to know is “tint does not lift tint,” which means, that you cannot dye your hair a certain color, and then try to dye it later I lighter color. It will not work. The only way that you can dye your hair a lighter color is to use bleach to lighten your hair.

If your hair is NATURALLY dark brown to medium brown, then you can dye your hair the auburn color that you want without worrying about using bleach to lighten it. With the color that you want, I really don’t think that it’s necessary to bleach your hair.

If you have access to a sally beauty supply store or their website http://www.sallybeauty.com, I would recommend the L’oreal Excellence HiColor collection and choose the color that is right for you. This brand is specifically ONLY for dark hair, so it gives extra lift in one step. They have specific red and auburn colors and all other colors too. This product has a 5 star rating.
